Film Photography 2

Artist's Statement

Within this collection you will find images spanning from lighthearted portraits to forgotten mementos . Despite the differences, there is a common theme of appreciation for unique, quiet, and withdrawn beauty. I draw inspiration from thought evoking people and places, both hidden and common. In this specific collection you will notice a trend of personal, simple pictures. I really love the challenge of inviting the viewer into the moment the photo was taken, or making something that is able to make a statement.

I originally started film photography because I was drawn in by the work in forming each print, whereas in digital the result is immediate. I ended up falling in love with the necessary devotion every step of the way, from the all consuming issue of light to the painstaking removal of every spec of dust.

It is my hope that while browsing, you take a minute to appreciate the beauty of the world around us, and the radiance of moments hidden in plain sight.

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” -Ansel Adams
